Chalmers 2018 Felicitas Sparkling Fiano
The Fizz
Be taken aback by Felicitas (Roman Goddess of fertility, luck and happiness)...
Fiano, a white grape which has its home in southern Italy in the region of Campania, has been quoted by Italian wine expert, Ian D'Agata, to be "Italy's greatest native white grape". Cue the Chalmers family to bring that wonderful grape here to Australia in 2002.
Felicitas is a 100% Fiano grown on the red Cambrian soils of Heathcote, Victoria. Quintessential fiano notes of honeysuckle, musk, ripe yellow apple are harnessed by a fine mousse, developed over two years on lees contact, and restrained acidity. The balance seen in this wine allows it to pair beautifully with a Sunday porchetta, roast chicken, or whole-baked fish and vegetables for the pescetarians among us.
One for toasting to good health and wealth over a meal!
