Henskens Rankin 2015 Brut Rosé
The Fizz
From the makers who epitomise Tasmanian sparkling wine.
This luxurious rosé has been crafted from 100% pinot noir sourced from a single vineyard in Sorell, situated just out of Hobart, Tasmania.
The cuvée and pressings were separated and cold settled, with the latter kept in aged oak. Light bâttonage was introduced for the cuvée, which encourages complexity and depth in the wine, without overwhelming the overall structure and textural character of the wine. Addition of still pinot noir was utilised to impart the salmon-pink hue once fermentation was complete, then bottled with miniscule dosage.
Initial aromas imparted in the bouquet are raspberry, biscuit and brioche, owing to its seven years on lees prior to disgorging. A delicately fine mousse springs within the rose gold-filled glass. On the palate sits the zesty acidity, owed to the prevention of malolactic fermentation, accompanied with delicious raspberry, rhubarb, and apple danish through an underlying savoury backbone and a gorgeously long finish.
One of our favourite rosés to drink in celebration or at the table, and would pair well with roasted pork or chicken-based dishes, curries or to finish the night with soft cheese.
